Almoster was just a short stop because of an old Roman style church and to take a rest before getting lost on the way to Obidus. This was our first lesson of the road signs in Portugal. Actually they didn't seem to exist at all.
Obidus - Completely enclosed by lofty medieval walls, this is a small town with white-washed houses brightened up by colourful bougainvillaeas. The castle has converted to a pousada (hotel). We couldn't take a picture about one of the little squares because a car-advertisement was being filmed there. The magic atmosphere of Obidus moved not only us but a company.
Peniche - A little fishing town with plenty of restaurants. This was the place where we saw the Atlantic Ocean for the first time.
Alcobaca - Monumental Cistercian Abbey of Santa Maria, Gothic tombs and cloisters.
Nazaré - Fishing port and one of the most popular holiday resorts in the country. Divided into to parts: sandy beach with hotels and the historical town on the top of a rock.
